Another month, another extension of the closure of the U.S.-Canadian border.

Crossings between both countries will remain off-limits for travelers until at least September 21, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced August 14.

“We continue to work with our Canadian and Mexican partners to slow the spread of COVID-19. Accordingly, we have agreed to extend the limitation of non-essential travel at our shared land ports of entry through September 21,” acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf tweeted.

The ban on non-essential travel has been in place since March 20. Commercial crossings for trade and commerce will continue as usual.

Anyone who enters Canada must quarantine for two weeks or face a $750,000 fine or jail time.
